Ambience is background noise that can be heard throughout the game. It is used to scare or trip players up. Ambience starts at A-20 after A-60 passes. Once a player (or players) reach A-100, ambience stops, and continues after A-100.
Type of Ambience (A-20-A-100)[]
Ambience sounds include items falling, vases falling, and rattling behind walls.
Type of Ambience (A-101-A-1000)[]
Once a player (or players continue through room A-101, ambience become more "aggressive". You can hear knocking, lockers opening (even though they never physically opened), doors opening, A-100 (entity) death fake outs, static noises, a person laughing, twinkling from a music box, and computers malfunctioning.
From A-900 onward, a hollow-sounding ambient sound constantly plays on top of the usual ambience.
Trivia[]
It is likely that the ambience noises come from (NPC) ghosts. Since ghosts can be heard using the Charm of Envy, it is likely that the same ghosts could be responsible for causing these sounds throughout the rooms. However, this theory is unconfirmed.
It is unknown why the ambience gets worse past A-100.
Computers past A-101 that malfunction is the only visual ambience that can be observed.
Computers can turn red and emit a noise similar to A-60, although it's louder and glitchier and ends with a glitchy noise.
