Revision as of 13:01, 11 October 2024
Insidæ (also known as A-200) is one of the 13 entities in Rooms & Doors. It is quieter than the Happy Scribble and can spawn at any point after A-200.
Appearance
Similarly to Happy Scribble, Insidæ takes the appearance of a transparent, gray, crudely drawn smiley face, however it lacks any glitchy effects.
Mechanics
Insidæ behaves similarly to its original counterpart from Rooms. Upon spawning, a deep thud signals its arrival, gradually silencing all ambient sounds and echoes until only the player's movements and Insidæ's own noises can be heard. At the same time, it drains all color from the player's screen, leaving it in grayscale. This indicates an imminent attack. However, hiding under tables is ineffective against this entity, as it is aware of where the player is. If you're playing on a console, Insidæ will also cause your controller to vibrate upon spawning.
When Insidæ attacks, it pursues all living players, including those in hiding, before retreating to a previous room. It can rebound up to three times. During this phase, The Multimonster will not spawn. Once the attack is over, a wind-like sound will play, signaling that it is safe to come out of hiding. After its departure, there's a chance of A-60' or A-200' spawning, though A-60' will no longer appear past A-250 following an Insidæ attack.
Insidæ creates a fog around itself and spreads a subtle haze throughout the surrounding rooms. For players using deaf mode, a blue icon will indicate its location after it passes by. If the icon dissapears that means Insidæ has left.
Insidæ will also disable The Darkness until it despawns, however this mechanic is removed entirely after room A-500.
Insidæ is a notably quiet entity. Apart from its distinct sound cues, it can only be heard when close by, emitting a noise resembling a person softly exhaling through their mouth. Insidæ is virtually inaudible from a distance.
How to Survive
Before reaching A-500, it's recommended to hide immediately when the screen loses color, as The Darkness won't attack during Insidæ's presence. Once you hear its despawn sound, it's safe to exit your hiding spot — unless A-200' spawns afterward. A-200' announces its presence by flickering the player's flashlight, similar to other primes.
Surviving A-500 and Beyond
When Insidæ spawns, wait about 2 seconds per room you are away from the main one, then hide quickly. If you delay, it will instantly kill you upon entering a hiding spot late. After it passes by, you can exit your hiding spot and hide again in roughly a second to avoid it's rebound.
At any stage — before or after A-500 — Insidæ will kill players who hide under tables, enter hiding spots too late, or try to hide in plain sight. Insidæ leaves no room for clutches or risky tactics, so always stay prepared to hide properly.
Entity's Rules
- Spawn Conditions
- Insidæ will spawn as soon as the main room becomes A-200, while transforming the previous three rooms into the “Locker Room" type.
- It will not spawn if another major entity, such as A-60, is already attacking (although this rule may be overridden with admin commands).
- If the next door is set to trigger A-200 but A-60 forces it open and spawns A-60' instead, Insidæ will not spawn.
- It will not spawn if the main room is a checkpoint or A-1000.
- Despawn Rules
- Insidæ will not despawn until it needs to rebound. At that point, a random number generator will determine if it rebounds again, unless this would violate the rule preventing it from spawning alongside other entities.
- On its third rebound toward the player, Insidæ will immediately despawn upon reaching the player.
- If the player is killed, Insidæ will despawn their client-sided clone but keep the clones of any other surviving players intact.
Trivia
- Before the scanner was added, The Darkness would attack alongside Insidæ from A-250 onward.
- Prior to the addition of A-90, A-100, and A-250, The Darkness would attack with Insidæ from A-150 onward, and Insidæ could spawn before A-200.
- The Pride charm does not protect players from Insidæ or other Scribbles when hiding under a table, unlike The Multimonsters.
- Insidæ is a variant of Happy Scribble.
- Insidæ was originally called "Happy Scribble A" on the death screen.
- The Multi Monster will not spawn during Insidæ’s attack, as is the case with other Scribble entities.
- Insidæ has two sprites, one of which is used during its jump scare sequence.
- Insidæ is based off A-200 from nicorocks5555's Rooms, but its left eye mirrors the right one, whereas A-120’s left eye appears damaged.
- During its jump scare, Insidæ opens its mouth to scream at the player, annihilating them. Happy Scribble (A-120) and Insidæ Prime (A-200') also open their mouths during their jump scares.
- The name, "insidæ", is Latin for "ambush".
- Insidæ's death tape is identical to Happy Scribble’s.
- Despite being mostly obscured by fog, Insidæ is still considered a happy scribble.
- Insidæ’s face is more visible on low graphics settings.
- Its sprite differs slightly from the original A-200 sprite it’s based on, with one eye being a mirrored version of the other.
- There is an extremely rare bug where A-60 and A-60' can spawn in room A-199, breaking the door. If this happens, Insidæ won't spawn, and no other entities will spawn for the rest of the run (except Pnevma, The Darkness, and Shell). Abusing this bug can result in a ban or permanent ban.
- Insidæ will kill Pnevma(s) when passing by them, similar to the behavior of Happy Scribble.
- Insidæ emits fog particles, making visibility difficult on high graphics settings.
- Insidæ and Void are the only entities capable of instantly killing the player, unlike other entities.
- This means that if a player enters a locker too late, Insidæ will kill them instantly instead of partially damaging them (unless using the Patience charm).
- Insidæ's jump scare audio may originate from this audio.
- Rarely, an A-90 can spawn in the middle of an A-200 attack. This will cause him to stop in place for a few seconds until Paralysis finishes attacking.
- Happy Scribble, Insidæ and Insidæ Prime’s jumpscare sprite are the exact same, the difference being their texture.
