Not to be confused with its prime version, Paralysis Prime

Paralysis (A-90) is an entity in Rooms & Doors that attacks players who don't stop moving when it appears on their screen. It is the one of the main entities you will encounter during a run.

Appearance[]

It's appearance is a face that is heavily distorted, glitched and pixelated. Its face changes depending on what state it's in, depending on when it attacks the player or when it spawns, or a stop sign (original.)

Mechanic[]

Paralysis has a chance of appearing past A-190. Normally before The Multi Monster's attack after all of Insidæ’s or Happy Scribble's rebounds. When it spawns, it will be on a random place on the player's screen and make a slight heartbeat sound. After the aforementioned cues, it will briefly block the players' vision via red-tinted static. Along with that, it will be in the middle of the screen along with a stop sign covering nearly all of its appearance. If the player moves during this state, Paralysis will attack and deal 60 damage to the player, as well as impairing their vision and hearing for a limited time.

Note that during Paralysis' appearance, pressing ANY key or moving the camera will cause it to attack you, but if it spawns WHILE you are doing an action, such as hiding in a locker or opening a door, the attack will not commence.

If you shake the gummy flashlight sometimes the echo would be gone, this means Paralysis will spawn after a while.

There is a chance of Paralysis Prime spawning after a Paralysis attack, which would be indicated with the player's flashlight flickering, it only gives time when the flashlight is flickering, it does not give any time when it appears.

How to Avoid[]

Being careful while traversing through rooms is key to survival, as Paralysis can spawn at any moment. Its muffled knocking sound can indicate when to stop movement as well as the lack of sound as its knocking muffles everything else. Be extra careful when performing actions that don't include physical movement. When entering animations, be prepared and ready, as Paralysis can start it's attack even when in an animation. (refer to the second paragraph in the "Mechanic" chapter).

Spawn Rules[]

  1. Only ever spawns at the START or END of any entity attack, except if it is in the middle of one of the scribble family's rebounds. (While he is away from your locker)
  2. Does not spawn in the middle of some major entity attacks, namely A-60, A-60' and A-250.
  3. Does not spawn after an A-60 attack if it's followed up by its prime counterpart or itself, unless it's the last time A-60' will spawn.
  4. Does not spawn if the main room is currently a checkpoint room or A-1000 except for A-200.

Trivia[]

  • Paralysis' first known appearance was in Place's Discord server, to which CJ4, the creator of Rooms & Doors, leaked it there.
  • There is a bug in which Paralysis can appear in the death screen.
  • Paralysis' sound would reverb if it spawns directly after Insidæ spawns.
  • If Paralysis attacks, ghost players will not see it, but hear it.
    • Instead, its full sound will play. (The sound is cut off for regular players.)
  • Paralysis is sometimes mistaken to spawn past A-90 like its inspiration from DOORS. However, it spawns past door A-190 instead.
