Description[]
A-666 is a secret entity in Rooms & Doors. This entity does not appear naturally (by itself) and must be activated manually at room A-666.
Appearance[]
The actual appearance of A-666 is unknown, instead, its appearance is a short but elongated black square that emits a bit of statics and a red glow around it, implying the "Censorship Strip".
Mechanics[]
A-666 cannot appear on its own, instead, the player must interact with the computer located in the room A-666, which is guaranteed to be a staircase room, or instead wait in it's room for exactly 1 minute. Once the player activates the computer, it will turn on with a red color and send a message saying "I don't like the sound of this". If you instead decide to wait in his room, a message saying "Keep walking" will appear after 10 seconds, then another one saying "This room is unsettling" after 30 and after 50 "Please don't stay here". If you decide to ignore all of them and stay a whole minute in his room, the computer will turn on as if it had been interacted with manually.
After a delay, A-666 will spawn extremely far away from the player in any random direction, even going out of bounds and will start moving towards you at a speed depedant on the phase. The player is able to see A-666 through any walls, as if it it didn't exist in the first place. If it manages to touch the player at any point, A-666 will instantly kill the player, skipping the death screen entirely and sending them straight to the option to spectate or return to lobby menu. The player can avoid A-666 by hiding in a locker, (tables do not work) after which it will completely freeze still once the locker interaction animation begins and then despawn after a few seconds. Do note that if the player ever leaves before A-666 despawns, it will speed up extremely fast and is almost guaranteed to kill the player. It will also ignore all abilities of the Charm of Patience. After it despawns, it will respawn far away again in it's next phase and repeat until the player reaches room A-698, or it finishes its 9th phase.
Upon being activated, room A-667 will now be a Bridge Room with the exception of not having a bridge. Past that point no Bridge Room will spawn until room A-699. Some rooms such as the Storage Room and the Double Plant Room will be modified. The Storage Room will have some barricades slowing the player progress to the next room and the giant wooden plank from the ceiling Double Plant Room will be broken and floating in the pool of blood.
It is also important to note 2 things. While A-666 is active, The Void will also slowly move forwards without stopping, forcing the players to move forward when A-666 is far enough away and while A-666 is active, all rooms will be flooded with blood, disabling the player's ability to sprint or perform rushed actions. A-666 also can randomise its speed, forcing players to be mindful about it. Once the player reaches room A-699, A-666 will stop attacking and the surviving players will earn the Marked badge.
How to Survive[]
Once the entity is activated, the player will have a certain amount of time, for which they must reach room A-698. Otherwise, Phase 9 of the entity will kill the player even if he was hiding. When the player enters the locker, the entity will stop for a few seconds and later teleport away, activating the next phase. With each phase, the entity's speed will increase, and starting with phase 5, the sound A-666 will completely disappear. Once the player reaches room A-698, the entity will disappear forever, and there will be no way to summon it in subsequent rooms.
When hiding, remember to listen out for the ambient/static noises that it makes. Often times, it's a good idea to get A-666 close to you so that while hiding, you can hear their static noises and know to leave when they stop. Keep doing this until you reach room 700. Also, do not try to hide in a locker for too long since A-666 can change its phase multiple times even if the player didn't exit the locker. Because of that, doing this can lead to A-666's going to its 9th phase faster, which will end your run.
The 9 Incomprehensible Horrors[]
A-666 has 9 separate instances, or incomprehensible horrors than can spawn[1]. Each and every incomprehensible horror isnt much different from the others, but each one will have some characteristics modified, such as speed, visibility and audio. The horrors switch out every time you hide, each time getting more and more difficult.
Phase 1: The first A-666 variant, slow speed and loud sound.
Phase 2-4: No special mechanics besides speed. 4 is faster than 3 which is faster than 2 which is faster than 1.
Phase 5: Does not emit sound and moves faster than 4.
Phase 6: Much faster than previous phases, will not freeze when hiding and instead will continue moving directly to the player. (Lockers are still fully safe)
Phase 7: Quieter but slower than Phase 6.
Phase 8: Quieter and also invisible, while moving at an absurd speed.
Phase 9: It will become invisible, make no sound, move extremely fast (6-8 seconds before it reaches the player) and kill the player not matter if it is hiding or not. (Just supposed to be an instakill to force fast movement). A clock ticking sound will play to indicate this phase.
Trivia[]
- Originally, the A-666 encounter appearance was used to be the regular A Section. A few hours after the update, it was changed so the appearance during A-666 encounters are now Abandoned A Section, this was changed due to unknown reasons.
- The number 666 is associated with Satan, which describes A-666's appearance at room 666.
- A-666 is represented as a black rectangle mostly likely because it's censored. Since the POV is The Guest watching the recording, it may be true that the actual player character can see the "Incomprehensible Horror".
- A-666 was first leaked by Place in this video.
- A-666 is very similar to the entity Haste From The Backdoor, a lot of similar mechanics.
- Triggering A-666's chase sequence is optional, and is only useful if the player is trying to get the Marked badge, or if they want to disable all the other entities like A-60 until room A-700.
- It is heavily discouraged to activate A-666 if you're doing Alpha & Omega runs (A-000 to A-1000 in one run), as A-666 is far more inconsistant than the normal entities you would encounter. Only do so if you are very confident completing the A-666 chase and want to disable other entity spawns for a while.
- The Desire Charm allows the player to slam open doors even when the blood prevents you from sprinting. It is heavily encouraged to use this charm when dealing with A-666 as it will save several seconds per room.
- The Patience Charm does not protect players from A-666 during a locker entering animation, unlike other entities.
- If you are spectating an A-666 encounter as a ghost, A-666 will move towards you but not the other player(s) alive through your camera, though you still be fully safe from it. (Proven from a GIF in the gallery)
