The Void (A-10) is an entity in Rooms & Doors that spawns at A-010 at any given run and will ensure that players don't fall behind during gameplay.
It is the very first entity that will spawn in any run.
Appearance[]
The Void takes on the appearance of a wall that is made out of what seems to be flesh, with many arms as well as a large skull sticking out of it, which all emits a red-tinted light.
Mechanics[]
The Void is guaranteed to spawn at A-010, to which anytime a player opens a door will cause the entity to move up one room. Any rooms that are behind it are removed. Players who touch the entity are dragged into it, killing them in the process.
Players that fall behind far enough will have their cursor turn red, as well as a message pop up, warning them to catch up. (will only warn if there are more than 2 players are alive.)
It is the only entity besides Pnevma that does not despawn at all.
When A-666 is active, The Void moves regardless of the player's room progress. It also moves faster. Players can't sprint due to the blood flooding the room, so it's best to be careful, fast, and not waste any time.
How to Avoid[]
Do NOT fall behind at all; the maximum amount of rooms you can fall behind is 10 before you encounter The Void. You may have to move at a quicker speed past A-100 and especially past A-900, as aggressive entities such as the Multimonster and its prime version will force you to move along.
Trivia[]
- The Void is not animated. It instead uses tweening for its movements.
- The Void's numeral name comes from how many rooms it's away from the current one, being 10.
- The Void plays a roaring sound when killing a player.
- The Void's skull will be placed in random positions depending on which room it is in, though it may not happen in specific rooms.
- The Void is bigger than every single room and entity in the game.
- When killing a player, The Void will play an animation of one of its arms dragging the player into it. This animation can be seen by anybody, including ghosts.
- The lights The Void emits will fluctuate depending on whether or not you have your graphics set to more than 5 and if your pc supports future lighting.
- When a player begins falling behind, they will receive unlimited stamina until they've successfully caught up. (only if there's more than 2 Players alive.)
- If you are in the Prelude Rooms and try to die to The Void, Red Skull will prevent your death and bring you to the latest room.
- The Void might have been inspired by Specimen 7 from Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion, however this is just speculation.
